Garage Door Grunts is a veteran-owned garage door company working out of a shop in Deer Valley. Wittmann is a genuine drive for us and we do not pretend otherwise — what we do instead is batch our northwest runs, bring the parts for the likely failures plus the unlikely ones, and finish the job in one visit. The average job out here is several times a typical city service call, usually because it is a full door or an RV bay rather than a quick spring swap, and that is exactly the kind of work you do not want done twice.
Wittmann is rural desert with big lots, long driveways, detached shops and a lot of oversized bays. Almost nothing about it resembles a tract-home service call.
Fourteen-foot-tall RV doors and extra-wide shop doors are common here, and they are a different animal. The weight is far higher, the spring rating has to be exact, and the tracks and bearings take real punishment. Getting the spring calculation right on an oversized door is the single biggest factor in whether it lasts five years or fifteen.
Dirt drives and open desert mean blown grit works into everything. Rollers pack with dust and stop rolling, hinges dry out, and photo-eye safety sensors get coated until the door starts reversing for no obvious reason. A great many calls out here are solved with a proper clean, new nylon rollers and correct lubrication rather than parts.
There is very little breaking the wind north of the 303. Doors on exposed elevations flex in gusts, which loosens hardware, bows the top section over time and knocks tracks out of plumb. Struts and correctly torqued hardware make a real difference, and we check for that on every Wittmann call whether it is what you called about or not.
We cover Wittmann and Circle City (85361), out along US 60 and Patton Road, north toward Morristown, and across to the Wittmann Road corridor — you will see it written both Wittmann and Wittman on maps and mail out here, and we answer to either. We also run garage door repair in Surprise, AZ, Waddell and Wickenburg on the same swing, so ask about scheduling together if a neighbour needs work too.
We keep pricing honest and upfront, with no surprise fees. Our standard service call is $49.95, and it’s waived with most repairs. Broken springs are our most common Wittmann call, and a standard double-spring replacement runs $395 and carries a two-year workmanship guarantee. A preventative maintenance tune-up — a smart move on the heavier custom and oversized doors common in North Wittmann — is $129.95. If a door fails after hours, we’re reachable, and true after-hours emergency dispatch (after 6pm, Monday through Saturday) is a flat $250. You’ll always get a clear quote before any work begins, whether it’s a spring replacement, an opener repair, or a full custom installation.
Our standard service call is $49.95 and it is waived with most repairs — the same rate we charge in town. We do not add a rural surcharge. What we ask instead is a little flexibility on timing so we can group the trip.
It is an honest drive from our Deer Valley shop, so Wittmann is usually next-day rather than same-day unless we already have a truck heading northwest. Phones answer 24/7 and we will tell you straight when we can realistically be there.
Yes, and it is a large share of what we do out here. Tall RV doors and wide shop doors need correctly rated springs, heavier-duty rollers and often struts across the top section. This is not a place to guess at the spring — get it wrong and the door either will not lift or tears itself apart.
Both, and especially on a heavy or oversized door. The second spring has the same age and cycle count, and mismatched tension on a heavy door is genuinely dangerous. Our standard double-spring replacement is $395 with a two-year workmanship guarantee; oversized doors are quoted to the door.
Out here it is usually dust on the safety sensors. They sit six inches off the floor at each side and a fine coating of grit is enough to break the beam. Wipe both lenses gently and check that both indicator lights are steady before assuming anything worse.
Very likely. Steel rollers on a dirt-road property pack with grit, stop turning and start dragging in the track. Nylon rollers with sealed bearings run far quieter and cope much better with dust. It is one of the cheapest upgrades with a noticeable result.
Yes. Detached shops, barns and second garages are common on these lots and we service them the same as an attached bay. Mention it when you book so we bring the right hardware for the span.
We do. New door installation is a good share of our Wittmann work. We will measure the opening, confirm headroom and backroom, and quote the door, hardware and opener as one number so there are no surprises partway through.

We had an unexpected issue with our garage door yesterday. We called Garage Door Grunts and they sent a technician in under an hour to help us. Michael was professional, friendly, and was able to repair our door quickly. He took time to explain our specific equipment and maintenance steps we could take ourselves. It was a great experience and we'll both use them again and recommend them to family and neighbors.
I’ve used Garage Door Grunts for years, and they’ve never let me down. From quick repairs to annual maintenance to emergency calls, their work is always top-notch. They’re honest, reliable, & truly care about their customers. It’s hard to find companies that still take pride in what they do! Highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality garage door service.
