A door that stops halfway up, leans to one side, or pops out of the rail is a track problem until proven otherwise. It is not an opener problem, so calling the opener manufacturer wastes a day. It is not a handyman job either, because the springs above the door are still holding hundreds of pounds of tension whether the door is moving or not. Tracks do not fail on their own. Something moves them, and knowing which thing it was tells you whether this is a fifteen-minute alignment or a full rail replacement.
A vehicle hit it. The single most common cause, and usually the most obvious. A bumper against the vertical track at knee height bows the rail inward, and the door binds at exactly that height every cycle after.

Realignment. The rail is still true, it has just shifted. We loosen the brackets, bring it back to plumb and spacing, re-lag into solid wood, and cycle the door. This is the cheapest outcome and the most common one on doors that started sticking gradually.
Section repair. A short bow or a dented lip can often be worked back into shape and reinforced, especially on the vertical track where the damage from a bumper usually lands.
Track replacement. Once a rail is kinked, torn at a seam, or rusted through at the bottom where the sprinklers hit it, straightening it is a temporary fix at best. Replacing that section, or the vertical and curved sections together, is the honest answer.
What moves the price: whether it is one track or both, vertical versus the horizontal and curved run overhead, the gauge and radius your door uses, and whether the failure took rollers, cables, or a panel with it. A door that came off track because a cable broke is really two repairs, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than at the end of the invoice.
Track wear here does not look like track wear in a mild climate, and it runs on a faster clock.

That heat cooks the lubricant out of roller bearings and makes nylon brittle, so the rollers that ride your track fail years earlier than the manufacturer planned. Dust is the second problem. None of this is a reason to panic. It is a reason to look. Twice a year, run your eye down both rails with the door closed and check for a shiny worn stripe, a gap between the rail and its bracket, or rust at the floor. Catching a loose bracket costs you a service call. Catching it after the door comes down costs you a panel, a cable, and a track.
