Carefree is small, custom and built into the boulders: large lots, architect-specified doors and a lot of detached and courtyard bays. Garage Door Grunts is a veteran-owned garage door company covering all of 85377, from the town core around Easy Street and Ho Hum Road to the Boulders, the Tom Darlington and Pima Road corridors and out toward Sears Kay. We run Carefree together with Cave Creek from our shop in Deer Valley.
Real wood, clad and carriage-style doors are the norm here rather than the exception, and they weigh far more than a standard steel door. They need spring ratings calculated for the actual door, better rollers and hinges, and usually a strut across the top section. Open desert means blown grit in every moving part and packrats in the low-voltage opener wiring. A yearly $49.95 tune-up catches both early.
On a custom door an honest diagnosis is worth more than anything, because the gap between a correct repair and an unnecessary replacement is large. We quote before we touch anything and tell you when a repair will do. Replacing a door? Carefree has design guidelines around color and finish; try styles on your own house with our door builder, and the estimate is free. We also serve Cave Creek and North Scottsdale.

Carefree is custom homes on desert acreage, and the doors reflect that. An under-sprung custom door strains the opener and wears out its own hardware early, and mismatched spring tension on a door that weighs several hundred pounds is a safety problem, not just a wear issue. We replace springs in pairs and rate them for the actual door.
Chewed sensor and wall-button runs present as an electrical or opener fault rather than an animal problem, and dust on the photo-eye lenses makes a door reverse with nothing in the way. Both are routine repairs up here.
Carefree properties frequently have a detached garage, workshop or casita bay set apart from the main house. Those run older openers on separate circuits and tend to be the last thing anyone checks. We look at all of them while we are on site.

We don't play bait-and-switch games: no "free" service call that turns into a bill when you say no, and no trip charge tacked on afterward. The fee is the fee, and it's waived when you approve any repair. Anything that needs fixing is quoted in writing before we touch it.

Yes, and we see them all over Carefree. Heavy doors need spring rating for the actual weight, not a standard kit. An under-sprung custom door strains the opener and wears out its own hardware early.
Both, and on a heavy custom door it is a safety issue rather than a preference. Standard double-spring replacement is $395 with a two-year workmanship guarantee; custom and oversized doors are quoted to the door.
Common up here. Packrats and mice go for the low-voltage runs, and it usually shows first as an intermittent sensor or wall-button fault. We repair or replace the damaged run and sleeve or reroute it where that helps.
Usually dust on the photo-eye lenses, or a chewed sensor wire. Wipe both lenses and check the indicator lights. If one is out entirely, look along the low-voltage run for damage.
